COMMUNIST MANIFESTO

Which chapter of the Communist Manifesto do you think holds the bulk of the manifesto?
Chapter 1-Bourgeois and Proletarians, Chapter 2- Proletarians and Communists, Chapter 3-Socialist and Communist Literature, Chapter 4- position of the communists in relation to the various existing opposition parties.

  1. Actually the whole thing is the bulk, I guess. But if i were to choose among the chapters, I would go for Chapter 4. It is for me summary of the manifesto itself, for the preceding chapters were mere history and introduction. In Chapter 4, the 'Communist Manifesto' spoke for itself.

  2. I think the main emphasis of the manifesto were the parts that argued on or gave out the points.

The parts that said what communism is and what they were fighting for.

  3. i do agree with daniel, i also think that the the bulk of the Communist Manifesto is the part emphasizing the idea of communism and what it is about.

  4. THE MANIFESTO IS AN INTEGRAL WHOLE. UNLIKE AN ANTHOLOGY WHERE YOU CAN PICK ONE OR A FEW CHAPTERS AND SAY THIS IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE REST, ALL SECTIONS OF THE MANIFESTO HAVE TO BE READ TOGETHER. THE SECTION YOU ARE REFERRING TO (THE CALL TO ACTION OF CHAPTER IV) FALLS FLAT UNLESS YOU GRASP THE HISTORICAL ANALYSIS IN CHAPTER I. THE CALL TO ACTION HAS BEEN RAISED BY MANY REVOLUTIONARY SECRET SOCIETIES AT THAT TIME, MARX'S UNIQUE AND ORIGINAL CONTRIBUTION IS THE HISTORICAL ANALYSIS, AN APPLICATION OF THE DIALECTICAL METHOD.

  5. TO MR. RODRIGUEZ

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU MEAN BY "THE WHOLE THING IS THE BULK." CHAPTER 4 ENCAPSULATES THE MANIFESTO'S OBJECTIVE: A CALL TO ACTION. BUT THAT CHAPTER WOULD HAVE FALLEN FLAT IF NOT FOR THE CHAPTERS YOU DISMISS AS "MERE HISTORY." CHAPTER 1 IS THE PREMISE FOR THE CALL TO ACTION. IT IS SAD IF WE REJECT OR ACCEPT A CALL TO ACTION WITHOUT ASKING WHAT IS THE BASIS FOR THE CALL BECAUSE IT IS "MERE HISTORY."
